Our Story
An extra-ordinary experience brought Roger Green to a revelation, and his dream business.
The Jamaican native moved to the U.S. in 1987. He was ambitious, attending college and working multiple jobs, slowly but surely making his way forward in his new country. But that ambition led him to a crisis point one spring day in 2009. He was overwhelmed- taking classes, managing a car dealership and driving a taxi on weekends. To help him stay awake, he ingested woodroot tonic, a popular tonic in Jamaica used to increase energy. But that day, he took too much and had a bad reaction. He began sweating profusely, and became lightheaded and weak. Still feeling the effects of the drink hours later, Roger describes a surreal experience: feeling like he had died and hearing a spirit, a soft-spoken, male voice.
It asked, “Are you ready to go home?”
Roger says at first, he saw overwhelming darkness. But then as he spoke to the spirit, he saw light, and the distant images of five relatives.
He felt they were on the other side, and he knew he was not ready to cross over.
He told the spirit, “not my will.”
As he slowly gained consciousness and returned to reality, Roger says he still didn’t feel well, but he was energized, as he considered what he thinks, was a return from the dead.
